Each of my Portraits is handmade. The ceramic shadow box is made of stoneware clay using the slab method. Each shape and size is unique in a way the emphasizes the natural beauty of clay. There is a sawtooth hook on the back of the frame for wall hanging or the size is perfect for display on a shelf or mantel. A cold glaze is applied before the pressed and dried botanical arrangement is placed inside. The plant material is harvested from my garden. It is pressed and dried with a light spray of lacquer applied to keep it long lasting. This Portrait features Hosta blossom and its delicate stamens. I am always amazed at the beauty of the architecture of a plant when shown as a silhouette.
