This necklace features a pendant I carved from black Wyoming nephrite jade. The rusty orange patch is part of the weathered exterior "rind" of the stone. It is rare for this to be hard enough to include in a carving.
The gray line on the pendant is an inlay of oil enamel, giving a graphic accent to the sculptural form.
The pendant is accented by subtly colored Indian agate beads and a plant dyed hand braided silk kumihimo cord.
The pendant measures 3" high x 1" wide x 5/8" thick. The entire necklace weighs 0.9 ounces.
The length of the necklace is adjustable by means of a sliding bead.
The pendant is signed and dated SCHILLING 2021.
