Sanctuary was inspired by the gothic boxwood miniatures made in the 16th century. The outer shell is turned wood carved with a floral motif. On top, a cabochon is set in the carved wood. The inner shell and pedestal is made from a contrasting wood. Inside is a nest with an owl and her eggs. Birds are hand carved and painted.
