Shield 86 is 49x15x4", and made with paint on curly black walnut, oriented strand board (OSB), barn siding and pine.
This piece is not quite symmetrical, which gives it breath. The holes on the left side are remnants of its previous use in barn construction. OSB is made for commercial construction. I like how the chips of wood overlap in different directions creating a very active substrate. In this piece I think of the top as holding the energy within the form.
This piece was finished with orange oil.
