This piece is created from white earthenware clay. It is wheel-thrown in 2 parts- a jar and a separate lid. The jar's legs are added to the vessel and an intricately hand sculpted carved leopard frog is positioned on the lid in a realistic pose. Once bisque fired, multiple layers of colored underglazes are painted overall. The frog is painted in patterned details to look like its natural texture.
The piece is signed on the bottom and a clear glaze is painted overall.
