Inspired by the fractals of colors seen through kaleidoscopes, this basket explores these impromptu shapes in wire and paper. The Kaleidoscope Basket is a traditional basket only in how its wire base is woven; the rest of the basket is shaped freehand with wire added in swirls and angles. The Kaleidoscope Basket features an angled rim and gently curved sides. The most intriguing part in making this basket is deciding which spaces will get color and which will remain open. I use a variety of papers to create the color tiles that define the visual play. Because of the way they are made, no two Kaleidoscope Baskets ever look the same— just like their namesake! The papers in this basket are sealed for protection and use.
