This piece is created from white earthenware clay. It is wheel-thrown in 2 parts- a jar and a separate lid. The 3 curled legs are added to the vessel and an intricately carved chameleon is positioned on the lid in a realistic pose. Once bisque fired, multiple layers of colored underglazes are painted overall. The chameleon is painted in hundreds of dots to look like it's natural texture.
The piece is signed on the bottom and a clear glaze is painted overall with the exception of the chameleon who is left with a matte finish to further its realism.
