The green of spring over impressions water left behind. The word derives from the greek “topo,” meaning place, and “graphia,” meaning to write or record, to map. Like terroir in winemaking, which acknowledges the influence of soil and climate, this series of weavings considers the physical landscape of eastern Washington. Once submerged in water from the Missoula Floods, the region still holds the impressions of water in its rolling hills and valleys. In spring, the vibrant greens emerge, and for this brief moment, we forget the aridness of the land.
