This quilt is part of a series dedicated to native wildflowers. For the past three years, I have been "rewilding" my yard, taking out invasive and non-native species and adding pollinator and wildlife-friendly plants. The results have been immediate and beautiful. Not only are these native species beautiful and hardy, but they have made our yard a haven for wildlife.
Each of the embroidered blocks in this quilt are based on my own sketches from my garden. This quilt features Penstemon, Yarrow, and Threadleaf Coreopsis. This small quilt is hand-embroidered and hand-quilted. In keeping with a message of environmental care and sustainability, I have incorporated upcycled fabric scraps. The label on the back has also been stitched by hand. It has a sleeve with a wooded slat and fishing line for easy hanging.
