My work uses found vintage black and white "snapshots" from the 1920s through the 1970s. Embellished with heavily embroidered clouds, trees, fire and other natural elements, I place familiar subjects in seemingly catastrophic environmental situations. The titles also include any information written or printed on the photograph.
Each piece takes hours to complete with thick layers of embroidery, adding color, texture and dimension to the flat surface.
Human impact on the natural world and climate is changing the way we live and will create a nostalgia for the "good old days" when our seasons were reliable and the world seemed to be in balance.
