One class and I was addicted and climbing in the window of the jewelry building to spend the night creating. Enamel caught my eye and heart there too and continued enameling into graduate school at SUNY New Paltz, NY. There I studied under Jamie Bennett, Bob Ebendorf, and Fred Woell. After school I continued learning in a number of jewelry stores carving waxes for custom jewelry, casting, and hand fabricating in gold and platinum. The last 20 years Ive been creating my own designs and custom work and showing it at various galleries and art festivals across the country. I hand carve my pieces out of wax and cast them in the lost wax casting process. They are then hand constructed with various metals and stones. Mimicking the texture of nature sometimes abstractly is the main focus of the pieces. My fascination with ancient and antique jewelry finds its way into them as well. What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

I may be biased but I think metalsmithing is the most difficult. The amount that can be learned and the techniques that can be used makes each jeweler as they get more artistic and technically adept is limitless.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

I use texture and matt surfaces in my work and it's unique to my carving ability and style. My work mimics nature using Victorian techniques and imagery.
