Fragments of Fairytales

About The Artist

Janet and Jay O'Rourke • Veneta, OR

Fragments of Fairy tales... Our work is green we salvage logs from fallen trees after storms, let the wood cure for about a year. We then turn hollow form lidded wood vessels, do one of a kind jewelry and create one of a kind sculptures, one of a kind wall panels cut out of wood to create a 3 dimensional work. We carve each piece by hand, we use dyes to get a water color effect where you can see the wood grain, Pyrography, Prismacolor pencils, Swarovski Rhinestones, Acrylic gold paint. 15 layers of lacquer. This is a technique we have created for our work that is distinctly our original media and our distinctive look. All our vessels, jewelry and wall panels are one of a kind. Our inspiration is from nature, birds, insects, gardens and magic. Hopefully our work will make you smile then our job is done. We love sharing our vision with each other and the world.
