About The Artist

Christen Coomer • Seattle, WA

Deodata Design is an embodiment of cherished experiences, cultural reflections, and the artistry of jewelry and functional ware. In the heart of Seattle, Washington, USA, I meticulously handcraft each unique piece in my home studio. I am Christen, and the name "Deodata," or "Deo," pays tribute to my beloved grandmother. Deo's unwavering support fostered my creativity from a young age. Together, we embarked on a creative journey, creating handmade greeting cards that she and her friends eagerly purchased. Deo provided the tools, materials, encouragement, and invaluable business acumen. Deo and I shared a special bond, often exploring the world together. One vivid memory lingers—the Japanese Garden at the Chicago Botanic Garden. During one of our visits, I impulsively plucked a loose bit of roughly textured bark from a towering evergreen and handed it to her. "What's this?" she asked. I replied, "It's nothing." She smiled and said, "Well, now we can tell people we share nothing in common."
