A classic design for nearly forty years now, the elegantly simple, bold, sculptural Large Square vase is a statement on its own, but can also host grand, large professional or amateur flower arrangements for homes, offices, or restaurants.
The face of the Large Square vase is 12 inches high by 10.75 inches wide, shaped into a broad curve with soft hammers in a dishing stump. The inset sides and base are hand cut to fit the particular form of the faces, and brazed in place. The feet are made in place from bronze rod. Each vase is tested for water tightness, and finally patinaed.
The two patinas shown are entirely different processes. Mottle is a formed by burying the piece in wood chips soaked in a patina solution over the course of several days. It is highly variable and not entirely controllable, so every vase will come out different. Tricolor, on the other hand, is a torch technique patina, like most of the rest of our patinas, where a thin solution is brushed on the surface while heating the metal. The heat accelerates the reaction between the chemical solution and the metal, creating the color. Tricolor, as the name suggests, is three layers of patina: blue-green/verdigris, brown, and black.
These vases are both available in most of our other patinas as well, so please contact us if you want another color you have seen.
