This Silver-studded Blue butterfly design was created with needle felted wool fibers on 100% wool felt and then stretched into a wooden embroidery hoop. This style of needle felting (also called Painting with Wool) is the process of poking wool fibers with a barbed needle, while carefully layering and blending colors to create detailed images. Each piece in my butterfly wing collection is an intimate study of color, shapes, and composition that have been abstracted from nature.
