enamel on copper on wood panel, 4x4x1.5”
My works are visual diagrams of what equates to journal entries; ideas, meditation, rumination and rants… The PINE series is inspired by the woods in Maine where I live and being at home so much during the pandemic.
I fold form dimensional lines into copper sheet and trim the edges to shape my “canvas”. I apply liquid and sifted enamels to build up five or more layers of color. Each color is fired in a kiln at 1400 degrees before the next layer is added. The surface is etched and hand sanded to a smooth matte finish.
