This piece of abstract hoop art is embroidered on a piece of peach damask silk. When I make my embroidered pieces on found fabric, I like to “riff” on the existing pattern and add elements improvisationally in order to create something unique. This silk had a leaf motif I enjoyed and played up with many little stitches.
This piece incorporates satin stitch, seed stitch, French knots and beads. It is finished in a painted hoop with a felt backing and my initials on the back.
