  • About This Artist

    Takara, born to West Indian parents and influenced from the St. Croix culture. With her dramatic and ethnic-inspired jewelry and accessories. Takara has designed for multiple museums and catalog houses such as, Artful Home, Museum of Contemporary Art and Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. Creating a program during the pandemic to put seamstresses back to work making mask, it revitalized the brand.

    A: Initially, I’m inspired by the environment. A file is created and the design process takes place.

    A: The fascination with recycled materials allows me to create unusual art jewelry.

    A: My new collection: Forms and Objects is created with felt made from recycled water bottles.

    A: I sit in the stillness of my studio and draw in the spirit to be guided as I create. Love listening to Blue Six on Pandora Radio.

    A: I recently collaborated with seven jewelry designers on Zoom to show our collections for wholesale consideration. It was powerful to share the support with one another.
