Eun-Kyung Suh has been a textile artist and a professor for over 20 years in Minnesota, exhibiting textile work nationally and internationally. Her textile work was published in Textiles: The Art of Mankind by Mary Schoeser Thames & Hudson, Dec 2012 and received the Inaugural McKnight Fellowships for Fiber Artists in 2020. She created Munee (a Korean word for ‘pattern’), a design company in 2022 to introduce home design products inspired by traditional Korean arts, but with a modern twist.

Munee's products are designed and produced by digital fabrication methods, including a vector graphics editor (Illustrator) and laser cutter and assembled by hands


What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

Munee mostly uses natural materials such as paper and wood from local resources if possible to promote more environmentally friendly arts

What is something unique about you or your practice?

Eun-Kyung Suh launched a design company, Munee (a Korean word for ‘pattern’) to develop, handcraft, and introduce home design products inspired by traditional Korean arts, but with a modern twist. Those who purchase Munee’s products can have deep insight into the rich traditions and cultures of Korea. Munee’s long-term vision is to establish a platform that promotes Korean arts and culture by sharing various educational and informational resources.
