Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

I construct custom-made steel molds and tooling to form and texture the hot glass into shapes that capture Detroit's rich manufacturing history in an industrial, modern, and retro aesthetic.

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

Growing up in postindustrial rust-belt cities, I love that I am able to continue to use the materials and mine the wealth of creative knowledge that still surrounds this area.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

I aim capture unique textures and surfaces in my glass work inspired by the textures traditionally associated with manufacturing. When interpreted in glass, these surfaces catch and interact with the light in a way that brings the pieces to life.
