About The Artist

Marianne Jennings • Mountainside, NJ

After I recently graduated with my Masters I opened up shop and design one of a kind luxury jewelry, handmade from gold and silver using precious jewels and pearls.   With my experience in several professional jewelry techniques I am currently working as a teaching assistant, helping novice Metalsmiths advance their craft.  I am currently living in Mountainside with my husband Dave, and enjoy making beautiful things come to life from a one dimensional sheet of metal.

Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

Made by hand by sawing sheet metal and doming or forging it or heating or silver dusting it to get certain textures. Sometimes a rolling mill for texture as well. Setting pearls completes the look.

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

I love making something three dimensional from a flat surface. And adding something smooth and lusterous that lived in the sea to show off its beauty with texture next to it is very sculptural to me.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

Dusting and melting parts of my pieces gives them dimension and becomes very textural compared to the smooth surface of a pearl.
