Meet the Artist
About This Artist
As a trained painter and now fabric artist, I want people to see how the world around them can be translated into art. I thought I had found my niche until I touched leather. I criss cross ideas of my 2 dimensional training into 3 dimensional art in the form of my bags. I find the organic edges, beauty marks, and drape, of fine leather an inspiration for my designs which are dynamic and always evolving.
Q&A With This Artist
A: Most of my bags are made from premium european hides, although they are sourced in the USA. All of my hardware and supplies are sourced from the US. I am a painter by trade and thought I had found my niche as an artist until I touched leather. I criss cross ideas as 2 dimensional artist into 3 dimensional art in the form of my bags. I find working in leather to be an addictive process in an unforgiving medium. The edges, natural beauty marks, and drape, of the fabric inspire the designs of my bags which are dynamic and always evolving. I am a sole proprietor and personally make all of my bags.
A: The edges, natural beauty marks, and drape, of a full grain premium hide is so inspiring. I can see a bag when I look at a hide, as an artist sees a painting in a canvas. I have a great appreciation for a beautiful leather bag.
A: I find it very hard to be creative during the time of covid and have made very few bags. But I keep buying leather! Everytime I see a great bag on a passerby or on TV I jot down the design concepts that I find appealing. Getting into my studio and surrounding myself with the sights, and smells, of leather inspires me. Sometimes I'm surprised by the beauty of the leather.
