Meet the Artist
About This Artist
I work with tiny glass beads, weaving and embroidering, free hand and on a simple loom- with a needle and fishing line. My background is in textiles, and I look at my work as a kind of beaded fabric- soft, light, flexible, able to catch the light like silk. I create these pieces because of an intense drive to express myself in color and form. I am constantly coming up with puzzles and designs in my head. I want to extend these to others and to connect to the tradition of beadwork and textiles.
Q&A With This Artist
A: I use glass seed beads from Czech Republic and Japan as well as other glass beads and some silver or brass. I source from wholesalers primarily. My work is created using a needle and fishing line, either free form in off-loom stitches or on a simple loom with a warp. It is meditating, relaxing and stimulating at the same time. I love watching the beadwork grow between my fingers.
A: I love beads. I love the colors and surfaces- there are hundreds- and seeing how they interact in terms of color and finish with each other. I love that I can use glass to weave a kind of fabric, that is flexible and soft.
A: Looking at all kinds of art, colors, being in Nature (I live in the woods in Colorado) and being active outdoors in the world around me.
