About This Artist
Dressing people and fashion has been my first passion in life, sustainability is the second. Designing and making whimsical leather jackets out of vintage ones is how I want to make the world a happier place in a small way. Want to look tough in a bomber jacket, just try with that pink pocket on there. Stylish and fun is very good in these times. If it brings a smile to your face and it makes you feel like you can conquer the world without harming the planet I am happy.
Q&A With This Artist
A: I work with leather from existing leather jackets sourced in Europe because the leather usually is of a better quality than in the US. I take the jackets apart and keep the interesting details intact. Then the left overs I cut into pieces or strips and create an entirely different material to work with by patching it together. I design a new jacket mostly multi colored and insert the existing details back into it. This demands skills I really had to learn because the restrictions are so many. It is a lot easier to make something new than to work with existing elements. This The from Scratch Series Another concept is to take a vintage jacket I like and rework it without taking it apart entirely. This is The Altered Series. This is a challenge in itself on how to change the feel of a particular jacket and the style while keeping what you like about it also. It becomes a very layered design concept that way. I like to keep them playful and exiting.
A: To present people with clothes that make them look their best, innovative, elegant, exiting and confident is very rewarding.
A: Working with my hands and using my brain and senses to be creative has always inspired and motivated me. Color, textures, fit and shapes are the elements. And of course everything is better with friends, family and a partner.
