As a fiber artist, I am deeply inspired by the tactile nature of textiles and the ways in which they can be manipulated to create intricate designs and patterns. I use needle felting techniques to "paint with wool." Through my art, I aim to explore the relationship and emotional connections between humans and animals, and to challenge the boundaries between fine art and craft. In my studio practice, my use of natural fibers adds an extra layer of meaning to my work and serves as a reminder of the importance of sustainability and how all materials are connected. Overall, my work is an exploration of the endless possibilities of fiber as a medium, and an expression of my belief in the power of textiles to connect us to nature and back to ourselves.

Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

I use needle felting techniques to layer wool fibers onto fabric, and I call this "painting with wool."

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

I'm passionate about pushing a medium as basic as individual fibers as far as it will go. I love experimenting with colors, techniques, and materials to see what is possible in the realm of needle felting.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

Because my work is often very detailed and realistic, most viewers are surprised to see that the image is made from fuzzy fibers.
