Dawn Muscio is an award-winning metalsmith. Dawn creates bespoke jewelry from metals and responsibly sourced gems, while subscribing to the highest standards in craftsmanship. Dawn has a BFA from Pratt Institute. Jewelry is a representation of the story of our lives. It showcases our roots, our celebrations and sentimental heirlooms. My own story is always evolving. The threads that run through are passion for my craft, good design, pursuit of perfection, and true caring for people and planet.

Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

All designs are hand sketched by the artist, then handed off to a digital realization artist to design a 3D prototype and scale model. Casting is done off-site. All hand fabrication, setting and finishing is completed in house at the primary studio in upstate NY.


What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

I love the process of creation, from initial design concept, throught applying the final finish. I like all the parts of the process, especially the details, the mechanics of making a piece. I would be a maker no matter what materials I was utilizing, whether to make wood furniture or weld steel sculpture, it just so happens that I have found a niche in creating beautiful and wearable jewelry. I am proud of my pieces becoming a part of someone's legacy.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

I am a chameleon. What makes me unique is that I have my own design viewpoint, but I can meld with the aesthetic of the client, so that the piece tells their story as well. The commission becomes a collaborative effort.
