Meet the Artist
About This Artist
I make highly decorated functional pottery with pattern and color. All of the color is added by layering thick, colored slips over hand-cut paper stencils. All pieces are finished with a black wash and clear glaze. Handcrafted items enhance our daily lives by giving us all a moment to stop and appreciate someone else's time and view. The objects are uniquely to the artist, and the new owner brings it into a fresh setting and interacts with it in a different way.
Q&A With This Artist
A: To create my pots, I use a smooth, white stoneware. I used both the wheel and hand building techniques to build each piece, and then layer multiple colors of slip on top of paper stencils to create the patterns.
A: Making functional pots allows me to be infused in the daily lives of my customers. When someone reaches out saying that they broke their favorite mug they have been using for 8 years, and need a new one, I know that what I made has been enjoyed.
A: The fact that I have customers that spend their hard earned income on my pottery is my inspiration. Being a self-employed artist is no joke, but making my own schedule, and working out of my garage, allows me to be there for my children whenever they need me.
