Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

After years of trouble shooting and trying to find "my style" I experimented with combining my love of sparkles with my glass products. My work uses a combination of glassblowing, coldworking (grinding and polishing), and kilnforming techniques to create unique handmade tableware and jewelry. All of the sparkles in my glassware are glass powders that have been sifted onto the surface of the glass to give texture and shine.

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

Glass is such a finicky, wild material that takes dedication and passion to understand how to work with it enough that it will let you. It's a challenge, as there are so many ways to work with glass. Each process is different and I enjoy working with each one. I also love the exchange of knowledge and nature of community in this field! Being able to gather knowledge from so many sources/artists, while teaching newcomers is incredible.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

I’m a pretty reserved person, but I love the loudness of glitter, bright and bold colors, and the pop of a little extra fun these pieces bring. My glass is seductive and glamorous, but with a refined touch. Creating bowls, cups, jewelry, etc. by combining different textures and finishes is exciting for me to create, as each piece has its own unique process.
