My interest in turning began with an article about segmented woodturning. The versatility of the technique allows for a great deal of creativity and there are endless possibilities when creating a vessel. The features I try to incorporate in a vessel are carving, painting and gilding.

Tell us how your work is made.

Segmented turning uses rings of mitered wood segments that can be stacked to form many shapes. Once the vessel is made it is turned on a wood lathe. Carving, painting and gilding are accomplished after the vessel is turned to final form.


What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

I love the versatility that segmented woodturning allows. Almost any shape or design can be made.

Each vessel is is unique.
